Design Challenge 2010

The results of the Design Challenge will be exhibited in the Packaging Innovation hub at Total Processing & Packaging. The aim of the challenge Participants will be tasked to develop innovative packaging concepts, using current and emerging capabilities of today’s manufacturers and materials to tackle the latest consumer and market issues.

The categories

For 2010 entrants are asked to choose one of four key market challenges:

Food and Drink – pack minimisation vs product protection (to reduce wastage) Pharmaceutical - pack protection and integrity vs ease of use and access (for the elderly and infirm in particular) Personal Care – luxury image vs pack minimisation (to reduce the common claim that these types of goods are frequently over-packaged). House & Garden – convenience and pack minimisation vs product protection (particularly for hazardous products)

Who can take part?

• Independent designers whom we will pair up with a manufacturer
• Manufacturers with their own in-house design teams.

How much does it cost?

There is NO cost to take part as we want to encourage as many entries as possible. The designers of each entry will be able to 'exhibit' their solution free of charge on display panels within the Packaging Innovation hub. 

Judging

Each day visitors to the accompanying seminar programme will be asked to view the solutions and nominate their winner for each category.  At the end of the exhibition the winners for each category will be announced and a presentation will take place.
